From a little research i found that one of the classic TFC maps was one of the OpFor TFC Map Contest winners, and was distributed with OpFor. Just a little fact .

openfire_lowgrens is one of the most played 2v2 map in the world, possibly only second to its big brother, openfire_l. The difference between the two maps being that of a reduced grenade count in the resupplies.

This map revolves around fast paced, spam filled, action and should not be mistaken for a defensive map. This ofcourse has lead to clans attempting to play it 5/3 (5 defense/3 offense) in an attempt to reduce the cap rate. This generally works well, but does change the way the map should/would/is designed to be played. FAST!

Defense setups in Australia/New Zealand generally revolve around a hwguy top lift/lasers, soldier at switch, engineer's sentry on the spawn catwalk and then defending water/balcony, demoman piping the switch and then the flag. Offense setups will almost always have a scout and 3 medics on offense and has proven to be the fastest, most effective team in the past.

The major tip for defense is to not hold ur finger on the grenade buttons, and for offense to not be so concerned with dming anything other than the demoman and focusing on speed between deaths.

The map itself allows for 3 entrances into the base and 3 to the flag. An offense player can enter the opposition base through the balcony or through the non swimmable water entrance or the main entrance towards the switch. Offense must get the lasers down by pressing the switch before getting the flag "out" and on the way towards a cap.

An okay map that can get frustrating with a mediocre PC/Internet Connection. 3/5 Overall.

In regards to learning the map, an ideal offense demo to watch would be RiZZo representing Finland against Sweden.

seriously if you have good sollys, play Balc solly and switch solly. Put the HW in the pit/water and a Demo on the flag + ng.

The US plays it all the time, with a top end demo and great sollys. It is very strong DEF.

*recalls xil v nv grand final on opf*

nv 5/3 (nug switch, hiero demo, sekm hw, cgs ng, aba balc) - as far as i can recall. thats some fairly tank defence.

xil with 4 offy got 9 caps.

last 'strong' defensive effort i've seen was probably BBQ v TECH a while back. opf is a very messy 8v8 map

clans i've been in have always gone 2 scouts 2 medics, works best i think

furious that def sounds awful, would just get raped through switch way, and if the hw moved to help you'd get snapped thru water cos theres no sg as backup

I'm right - god told me!
basically its a map that doesn't fit the 4/4 or 5/3 sterotype, its somewhere in the middle. Its the perfect map for 9v9 really with teams going 5/4. But sicne we only play 8v8 its always going to be a cap fest if both teams go 4/4.

Some of the best matches ive played on this is when 1 team is 5/3 and other 4/4, it balances out really well.
