god damn this is a pain.
If this is the exact same demo as from gamestah, then i got it playing by shortenning it and getting rid of all the spaces.
They really need to keep the naming simple.

Where does the file actually get saved to? can you play the mp3 and demo in sync?

File is not working at all for me.

When I open the zip there is a file in there with no extension. I extract it and rename it to 1.demo but it wont play. There is definately no .mp3 to go with it.

Although it sounds like you have a bigger problem if you didn't get a .mp3 with it. I'd try redownloading the archive.

I have a feeling I know what the problem is. The file you guys have hosted is a .zip. Inside that is a file that has no extension, and is the same file size as the entire zip, ie no compression at all, and there is no mp3 in there. I reckon if you rename that file to a .zip you will find that you will be able to open and get the two files. In other words, whoever made the zip got confused and stuffed it up when they made the zip. I reckon its a zip in a zip but with the .zip removed from end.

I downloaded it from gamestah instead and it worked no problem, so seems its just the file hosted here is bunk.

the file is the same one that is on Gamestah (I downloaded and uploaded) and apparently everyone else downloaded it ok :/

edit: just double checked from work and can confirm the file is working fine.

Sounds like a corrupt download. Do you use download 'accelerator' software? It wont work properly on our download system at the moment.

no i dont use any download software.

i did download it twice to check if the first was dodgy, but got the same problem. That is, zip contains 1 file not 2. File in zip has no file type, and doesnt play at all (which makes sense since its an mp3 and dem jumbled together)

i had to extract the file, this was became a file with no extension,
i then had to extract from this file with no extension. resulting in the dem and mp3 files.

how come i cant load the demo, its not anything like u guys said, is it cos of the updates?

If it wont load, its because the engine protocol changed with the latest update.

nah the new updates have made it backwards compatable up to the 11th of Dec. So demos earlier than that are fucked.

A way many games have bypassed updates stuffing up demos is to have it so its possible to load earlier version of the game. So instead of going through an ingame menu you could just double click the demo and it would load the correct version. But because of steam this is probably not possible.
